5:00am Madness With The BORG! E-mail

It's 5:00am...I have my coffee, Song For Whoever by Oomph! is playing. Dante my demon cat is curled up on the desk by my monitor purring, the Grim Reaper has his scyth pointed at my head and my Voodoo Doll is staring at me with his beady red eyes.

What am I doing up at this ungodly hour? School is out, the kids are sleeping and I have several hours of uninterrupted quiet bliss to play with my muse before the hustle and bustle of the day rears its head...or at least I THINK I do.

My toes have just become the main course of a very determined 6 week old kitten. Not what I was expecting this early in the morning. I pick up the little monster, pet it a bit and feed it hoping that will keep its attention away from me.

It did...for all of five minutes. I have become the target of the day. It follows me when I grab another cup of coffee and has decided that my desk is THE hang out for interesting things to bite. My 20 year old is so in for it when she gets home.

Now how am I supposed to work when instead of seeing the beady red eyes of my voodoo doll staring at me, I see the funny little face of this squirming bundle of fur. It is purring...Loudly, looking at me with it's cute little eyes and mewing for attention. Resistance is futile. Her name shall no longer be Nina...It is Borg Monster.

Ah well...sometimes you need to take a little time away from your normally scheduled routine just to play with the Borg.

I'm a firm believer in the 'everything happens for a reason' philosophy.  Even though it's a mantra I repeat to myself each time I need to find my cup half-full moment, the cup half-empty syndrome may rear its ugly head for a short time.  I'm obsessively positive to the great annoyance of those who love me anyways, so the fact that something can agitate me for a very long time is unusual.

Aging is one such thing that highly annoys me and a certain milestone coming up has spiraled my normal smiling face into a 'who is that looking at me in the mirror' mode.  I have never acted my age, and still occasionally get carded by the rare person who must need glasses or just came off an all-night bender, but my brain hasn't caught up with my actual age yet.
